Mystery Skins are the first set of skins that can be both unlocked and upgraded to higher levels. Mystery Skins can be initially unlocked by collecting skin pieces which are rewarded by opening Potions. Additional levels add animated effects to each Mystery Skin. However, upgrades beyond the first level will require both skin pieces and coins.

Mystery Skins and Potions were added to the mobile version as part of a major December 2016 update. They were eventually added to the browser version of the game in November 2017.

Levels and Types[]

Level 1 is the first and base state of a Mystery Skin. Level 2 adds a glowing effect to the base skin that continually repeats. Level 3 includes the Level 2 effect as well as a fade in to an altered version of the base skin. This altered version only activates when a player splits or eats another cell/virus.

A regular Mystery Skin requires a total of 75 skin pieces and 2500 coins to reach all three levels. A special Mystery Skin will require nearly twice as many skin pieces and coins (See Tables Below).
